Are Invisible Braces Painful?
If you’ve been wondering about Invisalign braces and weighing them up for treatment, you couldn’t be in a better place. Here on our blog, our expert dentists – based in Wolverhampton – are here to help. Today, we’re answering some common questions about invisible braces, so you can learn more about what’s involved in treatment and whether they’re suitable for you
Why have invisible braces?
Many of our Wolverhampton patients can feel self-conscious about their smiles – including during treatment. By having invisible braces, others may not notice you’re wearing them, which means you can undergo your treatment more comfortably.
Which brands do invisible braces?
It depends on the type of brace you choose for. We can offer traditional, fixed metal braces; lingual (back-of-teeth) braces; and even clear aligners. The latter is the most popular, as you wear plastic trays that fit snugly over your smile but can be easily removed
Do invisible braces hurt?
Again, it depends on which you pick. Fixed and lingual braces are effectively “glued” to your smile, involving a combination of fitted brackets and adjustable wires for tightening. Removable aligners fit over the teeth and can be taken off at any time. While many consider fixed metal braces to be uncomfortable at times, invisible braces can create a slight feeling of pressure when you first put them in.
How long do invisible braces take?
There are many stages to treatment, beginning with an in-depth consultation and ending with a refinement period (if required) and retainers. But from the moment you receive your braces to the moment you finish the last pair, treatment can take anywhere from 6 months to a couple of years. To get a more accurate timescale, arrange a consultation.
Can teenagers wear invisible braces?
They can and do, and teenagers in particular value how discreet they are as a treatment. For those who are parents to teenagers, you can rest easy – teen versions feature a blue dot.
Can invisible braces break?

– Remove when eating, drinking, chewing gum and smoking (or quit the habit)
– Store in the case when removed
