Mouth Cancer awareness month

This month is Oral Cancer awareness month – an important disease on the increase in the UK.

Like most cancers, oral cancer is a devastating disease that can change one’s life and of their loved ones immensely.

I recently attended a seminar presented by Mr Sat Parmar, a consultant in Birmingham who deals with oral cancer on a daily basis. It is amazing to see the modern treatments that are available to manage the disease. But the sad fact is….if oral cancer is detected early, it can be so much easier to manage and less devastating.

I myself have seen patients with oral cancer and fortunately, detected it early so that they can be treated urgently.

So, if you have any concerns about unusual ulcers or lesions in the mouth or around your face….don’t sit in silence. Please get advise sooner rather than later.
